A question from a fellow dog owner · New York City
Does NYC have
the right care
for senior dogs?
I have a 15 year old dog named Chloe. I'm researching whether NYC needs better care for senior dogs — before I try to do something about it.
Hi — I'm Christine
My dog Chloe is 15. Finding care for her has been harder than it should be.
Chloe lives with my mother, who has spent most of her life caring for other people. Chloe has become one more responsibility she didn't ask for — and I watch her struggle with it from a distance, not knowing how to help.
Finding the right care for an older dog in New York City is genuinely hard. Most services weren't built with senior dogs in mind — and the gap falls on the families who love them most.
I'm researching whether this is a problem other NYC dog owners face too — before I try to do something about it. If your dog is 7 or older and you live in NYC, I'd really appreciate a few minutes of your time.
